Continue reading »]]> The American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey has filed a protest with the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA), charging that its December 28, 2011 RFP for Surveying Services violates the federal Brooks Act.

In a letter issued today to FMERA leadership, ACECNJ called for the RFP to be rescinded and amended to incorporate the qualifications based selection (QBS) process for selection of the services provider.

The Brooks Act is a long-standing federal law that requires engineering and design related services to be procured through a QBS process. The Brooks Act applies to projects receiving federal funding, including the Surveying Services included in FMERA’s recent RFP.

Continue reading »]]> In response to concerns raised by the American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey (ACECNJ) regarding the widespread impacts of Hurricane Irene, the New Jersey Department of Transportation has pushed back the closing dates for six EOI’s that were previously due this week.

ACECNJ thanks the NJDOT for revising these six closing dates so that firms affected by power loss, flooding or other impacts from the hurricane will have adequate opportunity to finalize their submissions.

Continue reading »]]> The American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey has proposed a number of revisions to the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s evaluation criteria for professional service procurements.  NJDOT has a number of projects in its queue and plans to advertise once ACECNJ’s concerns have been addressed.  These revisions are the product of a significant and collaborative effort between ACECNJ’s Transportation Committee and NJDOT professional staff and are a prime example of ACECNJ’s advocacy of New Jersey’s engineering profession.  A full record of ACECNJ’s correspondence including all proposed revisions can be viewed in the Members Only section of this site.  Please contact ACECNJ directly for a password if you have not previously received one.

Continue reading »]]> New Jersey is second only to California in solar power capacity thanks to financial incentives and public policy commitments made by key decision-makers in the public and private sectors.  Proposed wind farms that harness power from off-shore turbines may soon help meet New Jersey’s energy demand.  Capital projects intended to modernize, expand and enhance our State’s aging transmission infrastructure are proposed or in the pipeline.
