Princeton, NJ – In response to action today by the Board of Commissioners of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey to provide up to $1 billion to expedite a solution to the Bayonne Bridge height issue, American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey (ACECNJ) President Joe Fiordaliso issued the following statement:
“The American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey applauds the important step taken today by the Port Authority to finance a solution to the Bayonne Bridge issue. By providing up to $1 billion in its capital planning process, the Port Authority’s Board of Commissioners is addressing one of the region’s critical infrastructure needs. This investment will help to ensure that one of the main entry points to commerce in New Jersey remains open.
Today’s action signals the Board’s commitment to the core mission of the Port Authority and is a clear statement that the Bayonne Bridge is a vital component of our region’s port infrastructure. ACECNJ thanks and applauds Board Chairman Anthony Coscia for his leadership.
